BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's cross country team turned in a strong team performance on Saturday morning at the NAC Preview Meet, placing second overall behind the University of Maine at Farmington.
Senior Grace Bedore led the way for the Eagles, finishing as the individual runner-up with a career-best time of 24:45.20 on the 6-kilometer course at Saxl Park.
The University of Maine at Farmington's Lina Martinez Nocito claimed the individual title in 23:22.25, while Bedore crossed the line just over a minute later to secure second place and lead Husson's scoring pack.
Freshman Nina Huber (28:10.56) and sophomore Molly Dearborn (28:16.71) ran together for much of the race, finishing 10th and 11th respectively, while senior Lexi Freeman clocked 31:26.73 for 17th. Freshman Brooke Martin rounded out Husson's top five in 19th with a time of 33:06.34.
The Eagles placed second in the team standings, finishing behind Farmington, which placed six runners in the top 10.
Husson returns to the course on Oct. 18 when it heads to Thomas College for the Thomas Invite.
