KEENE, N.H. — The Husson University women's soccer team dropped a 4–2 decision to Keene State College on Sunday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex, snapping a four-match unbeaten streak.
Keene State (6-4-6) jumped out early, scoring twice in the first half. Elizabeth Tschudin gave the Owls a 1–0 lead in the 25th minute, finishing off a cross from Eleanor Leland. Just eight minutes later, Mikayla Ryan doubled the advantage off an assist from Keely Giordano, sending the Owls into halftime ahead 2–0.
The Eagles (10-5-1) regrouped after the break and came out with renewed energy. In the 71st minute, junior Olivia Charles found the back of the net after a perfectly placed pass from junior Rylee Speed, cutting the deficit to one. Keene State answered in the 83rd when Tschudin notched her second goal of the afternoon to make it 3–1, but Husson responded immediately.
Less than two minutes later, Husson found the back of the net courtesy of senior Devon St. Louis, off of a feed from freshman Thea Gerfen to pull within 3–2.
Any hope of a comeback was short-lived, however, as Giordano added insurance for the Owls in the 87th minute, sealing the 4–2 final.
Husson senior goalkeeper Madison Weigler made three saves in the effort, facing 22 total shots from the Owls. The Eagles managed seven shots of their own, including four on goal, and held a 7–6 edge in corner kicks.
Husson ends the regular season with two road North Atlantic Conference contests against Thomas College on Wednesday and Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.
