| By:

WATERVILLE, Maine — The Husson University women's cross country team turned in a great performance on Saturday, capturing the team title at the Thomas College Invitational at Quarry Road Trails.

The Eagles placed five runners inside the top eight to finish with 22 points, outpacing host Thomas College (38) for the victory.

Senior Grace Bedore led the way for Husson, earning runner-up honors with a time of 25:36.4 over the six-kilometer course. First-year Lucinda Carroll made her debut for the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in 28:02.8, followed closely by fellow first-year Nina Huber in fifth at 28:44.2.

Sophomore Molly Dearborn (29:19.1) and first-year Brooke Martin (29:20.6) rounded out the scoring five, placing seventh and eighth respectively to secure the team win. Junior Abby Hunt (30:45.6) and senior Lexi Freeman (31:38.1) also contributed solid efforts, giving the Eagles strong depth across the lineup.

Host Thomas College's Maria Protheroe claimed the individual title in 25:09.1, but Husson's collective strength proved decisive as the Eagles placed six runners inside the top ten.

The Eagles will return to action on Nov. 1 for the NAC Championship meet at Saxl Park in Bangor.
