Women’s soccer remains unbeaten in NAC play with win at Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. – The Husson University women's soccer team concluded an unbeaten weekend in New York and remained undefeated in North Atlantic Conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over SUNY Delhi.

Husson (8-4-1, 5-0-1 NAC) set the tone early on with a quality chance from freshman Jaquie Pangburn in the third minute, but would get on the board five minutes later on sophomore Hailey Tarbox's fifth goal of the season on a helper from Pangburn.

Pangburn would get in on the scoring action herself in the 11th minute, as she put home a pass from freshman Thea Gerfen for her ninth goal of the season.

Delhi (3-9-2, 1-4-1 NAC) would start to find its groove offensively after the Eagles took a quick 2-0 lead, as senior Madison Weigler was forced into action with two shots on target, but managed to keep the Husson lead at two.

The Broncos managed to break through in the 17th minute on an unassisted tally from Madison Thorbourne to cut the lead to one goal.

Husson dominated the remainder of the opening half, as it outshot Delhi 9-0 for the rest of the frame, including 4-0 in shots on goal.

The Eagles continued to be on the front foot offensively in the second half, as they limited the Broncos to just one shot in the final 45 minutes and hung on for the conference victory.

Husson held a 21-4 edge in shots for the game, including 11-4 in shots on goal, in addition to a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Weigler turned away three of the four shots she faced in net, as she earned her third victory of the year.

Husson returns to the field on Wednesday for a non-conference matchup with Plymouth State University at 3:30 p.m.
