Baseball starts the push for a sixth-straight NAC title with release of its 2025 schedule

| By:

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University baseball team has been at the top of the North Atlantic Conference since it captured its first conference title in six years back in the spring of 2019 and now the Eagles are on the hunt for a sixth-consecutive NAC title this season with the release of their 2025 schedule.

"I am excited to work with this team," said head coach Chris Morris. "We will be tested early on with a tough schedule at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida and a three-game series in Atlanta, in addition to a tough non-conference schedule which will hopefully prepare us for another NAC championship and potential NCAA tournament run."

Morris and Husson will begin their 2025 campaign with a trip to Gordon College for a doubleheader on Mar. 1 in a rematch of a game from the 2024 RussMatt Invitational which saw the Eagles come away with a narrow 6-5 win.

Before taking part in the RussMatt Invitational from Mar. 10-13, the Eagles will make a stop in Atlanta, Georgia to battle Oglethorpe University in a two-day, three-game series which features a single contest on Mar. 7 and a doubleheader on Mar. 8 in the first-ever meetings between the two teams.

In the RussMatt Invitational, Husson will begin play with a game against Stockton University out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Ospreys earned five wins over ranked opponents during their 2024 season.

Additionally in Florida, the Eagles will take on Vassar College, before ending the trip with games against Mitchell College and Marymount University. Mitchell finished the 2024 season 34-13 overall and made it to the Regional Final of the Babson Park Regional in the 2024 NCAA tournament, while Marymount went 31-11 in 2024, in addition to both teams receiving votes in the final d3baseball.com national rankings.

Husson will play its first contest in the Pine Tree State on Mar. 19 when it plays at Colby College in a single game, before heading to Newport, Rhode Island to take on Salve Regina University. Colby and Salve Regina each made trips to the NCAA tournament last season, with the Seahawks amassing their program wins record and making an appearance in the national semifinals before falling to Wisconsin-Whitewater and finishing the year ranked third.

To further add to its strong non-conference slate, the Eagles will make the short trip up Interstate-95 to take on Division I University of Maine on Mar. 26 before opening NAC play on Mar. 29 and 30 with a four-game series against Lesley University in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Husson will finally play its first home contest of the season on Apr. 1 when it welcomes the University of Southern Maine to the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex for a non-conference contest.

The Eagles will then get into the thick of their NAC schedule with a four-game series against the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Apr. 5 and 6, in addition to doubleheaders against Vermont State University Lyndon and SUNY Cobleskill on Apr. 12 and 13. Husson and Cobleskill have met in the last two NAC championship series, including 2023 with the Eagles having to defeat the Fighting Tigers twice to capture the conference title.

Husson will take a brief hiatus from conference play and will play three games against New England Small College Athletic Conference teams, as Colby will head to Bangor on Apr. 15, while Bowdoin College will make that same journey north on Apr. 22 and Bates College will host the Eagles on Apr. 23. Husson went 2-1 against its Maine-based NESCAC opponents in 2024, picking up one-run wins over Bates and Bowdoin.

Returning to NAC play on Apr. 26, Husson will begin a four-game series against rival Thomas College that features two games at the Winkin Complex on the 26th, before the two teams meet in Waterville for a doubleheader the next day.

The Eagles will conclude their season with a non-conference game at USM on Apr. 29, before ending the regular season at home on May 3 and 4 with back-to-back doubleheaders against the University of Maine at Farmington.
