BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University baseball program has announced its schedule for the 2026 season, highlighted by an early-season trip to Florida, a full slate of 24 North Atlantic Conference contests, and 14 games at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex.
The Eagles are set to once again defend their North Atlantic Conference title, as the streak reached six following a dominant run through the conference tournament last season. Husson is also set to begin the tenure of Zach Sugar '17 as its newest head coach, as Sugar had served as an assistant for the Eagles for the past seven seasons before taking over for Chris Morris.
"It is always an exciting time of the year once we get a glance at our spring schedule as we prepare to open the season with a veteran group and a healthy mix of young talent ready to compete at a high level," Sugar said. "Our roster brings experience, depth, and energy, with leaders who understand what it means to wear Husson across their chest and younger players eager to make their mark."
"Expectations within the program remain unchanged," Sugar continued. "We focus on the process, the daily work, and playing the game the right way. Every season brings new challenges, but the standard here stays the same - just play Husson Baseball."
The Eagles will open the season in Davenport, Florida, competing in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational from March 8–13. Husson opens play against Benedictine University on March 8 before a doubleheader with the University of Wisconsin-Superior on March 9, as these will be the first-ever matchups for the Eagles against Benedictine and Wisconsin-Superior.Â
The Florida trip continues with games against Russell Sage College, Marymount University and Wheaton College (Mass.), giving the Eagles six games against a variety of regional opponents to start the year. Russell Sage fell in the championship game of the Empire 8 Conference tournament, while Marymount made an NCAA tournament appearance last season.
Husson returns north for a nonconference doubleheader at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on March 21 for the first matchup in program history against the Engineers, before opening North Atlantic Conference play the following weekend. The Eagles begin conference competition on the road at SUNY Cobleskill on March 28–29 in a four-game series that serves as the 2026 NAC opener.
The Eagles' home opener is set for March 31, when Husson welcomes the University of Southern Maine to Bangor, looking for its first win over the Huskies since 2013. Conference play comes to the Winkin Sports Complex on April 3–4, as Lesley University visits for a four-game series that marks Husson's NAC home opener.
April features a mix of conference matchups and regional nonconference games, including home and away meetings with Bowdoin College, Bates College, Colby College, and Thomas College, in addition to a road game at USM. The Eagles will also travel to Vermont State University Lyndon for a four-game NAC series on April 18–19.
Husson wraps up its home schedule on April 25–26 with a four-game conference series against the University of Maine at Farmington. The Sunday doubleheader on April 26 will also serve as Senior Day, recognizing the program's graduating student-athletes.
Conference play concludes on the road at the University of Maine at Presque Isle on May 2–3, closing out the regular season schedule, before the conference tournament begins on May 7 at the top-seeded team with the top four overall seeds qualifying for the tournament.
