BOSTON, Mass. – The Husson University men's soccer team picked up a 2-1 victory on the road over Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon at Sartori Stadium.
Husson (2-0-1) found the scoring column first after a 15-minute scoreless start to Saturday's contest, as senior Alejandro Mora found the back of the net at the 15:02 mark off of a pass from classmate Florian Gasser to give the Eagles a 1-0 edge.
It didn't take long for Husson to double its lead, as sophomore Carsen Cyr took advantage of a loose ball off of a shot from graduate student Mosi Masimango that was saved by the Suffolk (1-2-1) goalie and put home his first goal as an Eagle.
The Rams managed to get one goal back before the halftime break thanks to Francisco Valck, who took advantage of great passes from Dominic Rinaldi and Dylan Tratchenberg to bring Suffolk to within 2-1 at halftime.
While the Eagles weren't able to extend their lead in the second half, the defense held strong and allowed Husson to come away with a crucial non-conference win over the Rams.
Suffolk outshot Husson 17-11 for the game, but the two teams finished tied in shots on goal with seven each, while the Rams also held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Garret Jordan manned the net for the Eagles and stopped six of the seven shots that Suffolk fired at him.
Husson will return home for back-to-back home games this coming week, beginning with a clash against Bowdoin College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
