BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University football team opened its 2024 season on Saturday and ran its way past Framingham State University 56-14 en route to a dominating team performance.
Husson (1-0) wasted no time getting on the board, senior
Nason Berthelette returned the opening kickoff to the midfield line and a long pass play from junior
Max Clark to senior

Jed Lober for his first of five rushing touchdowns on the day.
Framingham State (0-1) fumbled the ensuing kickoff and senior
Anthony Harris jumped on the ball for the Eagles. Two plays later, Lober crossed the goal line again for his second touchdown and a quick 14-0 Husson advantage.
The Rams bounced back to end the quarter, driving 76 yards on 11 plays to pull within 14-7 of the Eagles.
However, Lober capped off a five-play, 57-yard drive with a 32-yard touchdown run to extend the lead back to 21-7 heading into the second quarter.
Clark connected with sophomore
Jacob Lenz in the opening minutes of the second period on an eight-yard passing score to extend the deficit to 28-7.
Framingham State scored with 1:03 remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 28-14 and following an Eagles turnover were in position to pull within 28-21 until sophomore
Jahmye Tyson and senior
Walker Lenz combined for a sack to end the Rams drive and conclude the opening half.
Saturday's second half would be all Eagles as Husson came out of the half forcing FSU to punt on its opening drive before Lober scored his fourth touchdown of the game to run the lead to 35-14.
Lober scored again on Husson's next drive to tie the record for most touchdowns in a game with five — matching John Smith and Justin Lindie for most rushing touchdowns in a game.
Husson added touchdowns on its final two possessions, the first from Clark to senior
Cam Holmes, who broke two tackles and scored from 23-yard out and the second on a rush from senior
Beau Lasher to run the score to 56-14.
Clark finished with 162 yards through the air with 10 completions and two touchdowns, while Lober racked up 135 yards on 21 attempts and five scores.
Myles led the Eagles with 60 yards on three catches, while also impressing with 140 yards on four punt returns, nearly taking a return to the house before getting tripped up inside the 10-yard line.
Senior
Tyler Armeen and senior
CJ Nicely led Husson with six tackles each as the Eagles dominated on the defensive line, living in the Rams backfield forcing eight tackles for loss, including two sacks.
Additionally, the Eagles forced and recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass near the goal line that junior
Quentin Riiska nearly took for a defensive score.
Next up for the Eagles is a home showdown against Springfield College on Saturday with kick-off set for 1 p.m.
