BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University football team dropped a non-conference contest to Springfield College on Saturday afternoon, 76-7, at the John W. Winkin Sports Complex.

Springfield (2-0) found the scoreboard first to open Saturday's game, as Arsen Shtefan rushed into the end zone from 22 yards out to give the Pride a 7-0 lead.

Husson (1-1) responded on the ensuing drive as junior Max Clark found senior Nason Berthelette over the middle and Berthelette broke multiple tackles and tip-toed down the left sideline to knot the contest up at seven.

The Pride scored 21 unanswered points to wrap up the first quarter of play to carry a 28-7 lead into the second period, as Jacob Silvester tallied two rushing touchdowns and Blane Hart ran in from 23 yards out for Springfield.

Springfield poured on three more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a commanding 49-7 edge into the halftime break, as Hart, Shtefan and Bradley Barcello each posted touchdowns in the quarter.

The Pride posted two touchdowns each in the third and fourth quarters to capture their second win of the year.

Clark finished 15-27 through the air for the Eagles, securing 154 yards and one touchdown pass, while junior Jed Lober posted 30 yards on the ground, in addition to 29 from Clark.

Berthelette led the Husson receivers with his four catches and 92 yards, while senior Cullen Casey also hauled in four passes.

Senior CJ Nicely led the Eagles in tackles with 12 total stops, while junior Ryan Banister and senior Ethan Turgeon each posted double-figure stops with 11 and 10 respectively.

Husson is back in action next Saturday when it plays its first road game of the year against Norwich University at 2 p.m.
