BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University dropped its home-opener of North Atlantic Conference play to Thomas College on Wednesday evening by a final score of 6-1 at Boucher Field.
Thomas (4-1-1, 3-0 NAC) found paydirt less than 10 minutes into Wednesday's conference battle, as Cody Robinson capitalized on a ball that was ping-ponging around the box and managed to fire it past sophomore goalie Wessel De Wit to give the Terriers an early lead.
Husson (4-2-1, 1-1 NAC) struck back in the 17th minute as graduate student Josh Nadeau found the back of the net off of a corner kick from senior Mario Alvarez to even the game back up for the Eagles.
The Terriers regained their lead in the 38th minute of play on the first of three goals from David Ivarsson to carry a 2-1 lead into halftime.
A penalty kick goal from Micky Woodrow in the 50th minute effectively broke the game open for Thomas, as it added three additional goals to its lead to pick up the win over Husson.
The Terriers outshot the Eagles 12-8 for the match, including an 8-4 edge in shots on goal, in addition to taking six corner kicks to Husson's four.
De Wit managed to make two saves in his 90 minutes between the posts for the Eagles.
Husson will look to bounce back on Tuesday when it hosts the University of Maine-Presque Isle in conference action at 5 p.m.
