SOUTH HADLEY, Mass, – The Husson University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon to Mount Holyoke College, 3-0, and Framingham State University, 3-1, in an event hosted by Mount Holyoke.
GAME 1:
Husson (2-6) fell behind early in the opening game of its doubleheader, as it surrendered a 1-0 set lead to Mount Holyoke (5-1) after dropping the opening set to the Lyons 25-10.
Mount Holyoke jumped out to a 22-13 lead in the second set, but four-straight points from the Eagles got them back into the set.
The Lyons managed to secure the set-two win after tallying four of the final five points in the set to open up a 2-0 set lead.
Mount Holyoke closed out the match-victory after taking the third set 25-15.
Sophomore Janna Preskorn led the Husson offense with 10 kills, while senior Alyvia McIntyre dished out 16 assists.
GAME 2:
In the finale of Husson's doubleheader, the Eagles won a close first-set against Framingham State (3-3), 25-23, to go up 1-0 over the Rams.
Framingham State bounced back in the second set, defeating Husson 25-20, before dominating in the third set, capturing a 25-9 set-win.
The Rams closed out the win in the fourth set with a 25-18 win, earning a 3-1 win over the Eagles.
Freshman Kimberly Daniels posted 10 kills in the match to lead Husson, while McIntyre handed out 23 assists and senior Beatrice Tursi scooped up 10 digs.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Biddeford to take on the University of New England at 6 p.m.
