CASTLETON, Vt. — The Husson University field hockey team dropped a hard-fought, 3-2 back-and-forth road battle against Vermont State University Castleton on the road Saturday.
Husson (3-2) struck first in Saturday's bout when sophomore
Faith Tillotson scored 1:16 into the match from junior
Averi Baker to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
Castleton (3-2) tied the game 1-1 with a goal in the opening minute of the second quarter, but sophomore
Tessa Capozzoli gave the Eagles back the lead 2-1 with her fourth goal of the season just before the half.
The Spartans tied the game again in the opening minutes of the third quarter and managed to put in the deciding goal with just over eight minutes remaining to earn the 3-2 win.
Husson finished with a 16-14 scoring advantage, while Castleton finished with a 9-6 shot on goal edge.
Freshman
Maddie Stevens got the start in cage for Husson, playing at 60 minutes, recording five saves.
The Eagles will now host the University of Southern Maine on Saturday at noon.
