BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University field hockey team improved to 2-0 on the young season, as it dominated possession of the ball en route to a 3-0 win over Saint Joseph's College of Maine at the John W. Winkin Complex on Sunday afternoon.
Husson (2-0) found paydirt nearly nine minutes into the opening period as junior Maddie Perkins tallied her third goal of the weekend off of an assist from classmate Maddie Arsenault.
The Eagles doubled their lead in the second quarter as Arsenault found the back of the cage for the third time this season off of a pass from sophomore Faith Tillotson with under nine minutes left in the first half.
Husson closed out its second-consecutive victory with a goal late in the third quarter courtesy of junior Kyla Havey, who posted her first goal of the season on a pass from classmate Lauryn Brown.
Sophomore Maria Levesque manned the net for the entirety of Sunday's contest, making two saves on the two shots that Saint Joseph's (0-1) had on goal.
The Eagles outshot the Monks 26-2, including a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 21-3 edge in penalty corners.
Husson is back in action on Saturday when it travels to New Jersey for two games, as it will start the trip with a game against Montclair State University at 12 p.m.
