LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Husson University cruised pass Vermont State University Lyndon, 20-4, in a North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse contest at the VTSU Lyndon Varsity Field on Sunday afternoon.
Husson (5-7, 4-1 NAC) scored five goals in the first five minutes off the sticks of junior

Natalie Whitten before Vermont State University Lyndon (0-9, 0-6 NAC) got on the board with back-to-back tallies from Maachah Krull and Riley Webster at the 9:06 and 8:38 marks of the opening frame. The Eagles then went on to score seven unanswered goals - including three from sophomore
Averi Baker and two from junior
Maddy Benoit - to take a 12-2 lead into the intermission.
The Hornets opened the third quarter scoring when Webster scored a women-down goal one minute and four seconds into the period in advance of Benoit providing feeds to graduate student
Devyn Veits on a women-up opportunity and junior
Sami Orest's first career goal as the Eagles led 14-3 with 12:34 left in the third stanza.
Webster netted the Hornets final goal of the game when she hit pay dirt for the third time at the 8:34 mark of the third before Husson closed out their offensive barrage with six straight markers in the third and fourth quarters combined to count for the 20-4 victory.
Husson held the lead in shots (36-8), shots on goal (30-6), ground balls (31-18), draw controls (16-11) and caused turnovers (21-9).
Junior
Lacey Scanlon made two stops with a ground ball in the net for the Eagles while the Hornets deployed two netminders as Alyssa Gerrish and Bridget Denio combined to make 10 saves and picked eight ground balls in the setback.
Baker led all players with four goals and two assists for six total points to become the second player in program history to surpass the 100 career point plateau in just her first two years as a member of the program. Additionally, she is the eighth Eagle in school history to score 100 points. Baker also finished the game with three ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Benoit added three goals, three assists, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. Gardner produced two goals and two assists with a ground ball and a caused turnover. Sophomore
Madison Lower scored two goals with a ground ball. Martinez finished the game with a goal, an assist, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Freshman
Azabell Assaf had one goal, two ground balls and four caused turnovers. Veits chipped in with a goal, an assist, three ground balls, three caused turnovers and a game-high eight draw controls. Lengle, Gomez, Whitten and Orest all notched a goal apiece while freshman
Riley Maynard scored a career-high two goals in the victory.
Webster led the Hornets' offense with three goals, an assist and four draw controls while Krull added a goal and an assist on the afternoon.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at Thomas College for a 6 p.m. NAC contest.
