BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University softball team picked up a pair of North Atlantic Conference victories on Sunday beating Eastern Nazarene College 8-0 and 15-5 at home.
Husson (20-4, 6-0 NAC) wasted little time getting on the board with three runs in the first inning. Junior
Tori Exel doubled to left field to score senior's
Jess Pomerleau and
Katie Raymond.
Senior
Julia Gregoire scored Exel on a sacrifice flyout later in the inning to give the Eagles a 3-0 cushion
Husson would hold Eastern Nazarene (8-20, 1-5 NAC) in check allowing just one hit over the first four innings before scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 7-0 edge.
Raymond singled to drive in the first run, while two runs came in on a Lions miscue before senior
Kenzie Dore doubled down the right field line.
Husson would add the eighth and final run in the bottom of the sixth inning when freshman
Camryn King moved up to third on a flyout from Dore, before rounding third and stealing home for the final run.
Sophomore
Danielle Masterson went the distance in the circle for the Eagles, allowing just three hits over six innings with four strikeouts, improving to 5-1 on the year.
Raymond, Pomerleau, Exel, Dore and sophomore
Lydia Rice all finished with two hits apiece, while Exel added two RBI's.
In the doubleheader finale, Husson kept the bats going, scoring five runs in the first inning and four in the second to take a commanding 9-0 lead.
Dore got the Eagles on the board with a two-RBI single in the first, while sophomore
Jordan Lambert doubled in another run and junior
Tatyanna Biamby drove in another run.
In the second inning, Pomerleau would score on a wild pitch and freshman
Josie Cornell connected on a two-RBI single to open up an 8-0 edge.
Lambert added her second RBI of the game with her second hit to make the game 9-0.
Husson would benefit from another six runs in the third inning, including four bases-loaded walks and a two-RBI single from Biamby.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board with two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth, but the damage had been done as Husson came away with the 15-5 win.
Freshman
Ana Lang picked up her 10th win on the year, throwing three scoreless innings, allow just one hit and striking out four batters.
Cornell and Lambert each finished with two hits each, while Dore, Cornell, Lambert and Biamby all added three RBIs apiece.
Prior to the game, Husson recognized its four 2024 softball seniors as Dore, Raymond, Pomerleau and
Olivia McCarty celebrated.
Next up for the Eagles is a road doubleheader matchup against the University of Maine at Farmington on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
