BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University baseball team dropped a hard-fought 13-9 late-inning decision to the University of Southern Maine at home Tuesday evening.
Southern Maine (6-12) begin Tuesday in-state showdown with two runs in the first inning, before Husson (3-6) plated four runs in the second inning to take a 4-2 edge.

Austin Snow connected on an RBI single to center that plated junior
Tyler Michaud and senior
Akira Warren earned a bases-loaded walk to tie the game 2-2. Junior
Tanner Evans scored sophomore
Colin Marshall on a sacrifice flyout and Snow later scored on a passed ball.
Marshall gave the Eagles a 5-2 edge with a run in the third inning, before USM cut into Husson's lead with a run in the fourth.
Marshall further added to Husson's edge with a two-RBI single in the fourth and senior
Jackson Curtis connected on a two-run homerun to left field in the fifth to open up a 9-3 edge.
The Huskies chipped into the Eagles lead with two runs in the sixth inning and two more in the eighth to pull within 9-8 heading into the deciding ninth inning.
Southern Maine continued its scoring run in the ninth, plating four runs to take a 13-9 lead.
Jackson finished 2-5 at the dish for the Eagles with two RBIs, while Marshall, Snow and freshman
Matt Holmes all added two hits apiece.
Husson will now battle Bates College on the road Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
