BRUNSWICK, Maine — Freshman
Kevin Connolly came up clutch for the Husson University baseball in its 3-2 non-conference win over Bowdoin College on Monday.
Husson (3-5) trailed 2-0 after Bowdoin (10-7) plated two runs in the bottom of the third inning, however the Eagles offense put a run on the board in the fourth when freshman
Matt Holmes drove in sophomore
Cam Rendell.
Rendell would walk with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth inning to even that game on 2-2, before Connolly connected on a bases-loaded single that scored senior Akria Warren for the 3-2 advantage.
Junior
Connor Abood shutdown the Polar Bears in the bottom half of the inning, earning the win before sophomore
Ben Phillips struck out five batters over three innings, allowing just one hit, giving way to senior
Ryan Robb to pitch the final inning and earn the save for the Eagles.
Husson limited Bowdoin to just five hits on the evening, while only walking one batter and striking out eight Polar Bears.
The Eagles will now host the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
