Vibber nets three in men's lacrosse loss to Wabash

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Husson University men's lacrosse team fell to Wabash College, 21-8, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

The Little Giants held a 5-0 advantage until 57 seconds left in the opening period when senior Matt Boynton tallied the Eagles first goal of the game. Wabash (4-1) responded quickly with five straight goals to take a 10-1 lead with 7:34 remaining in the second stanza. Husson (0-2) received back-to-back goals in the closing minutes of the second from Boynton and senior Danny Carter to make the game 10-3 heading into the break.

Carter scored his second of the game 58 seconds into the third period after taking a nice feed from freshman Owen Giorgio. After the Carter goal, Wabash proceeded to score the 11 of the next 15 goals to count for the 21-8 victory over the Eagles. Husson received goals over that time frame from junior Sean Lyne (11:39, fourth) and three from junior Nathan Vibber. Vibber's goals were scored at the 5:29 and 5:04 marks of the third and the 8:39 mark of the fourth.

Sophomore Odin Burk and sophomore Cohen Trnka combined to make seven saves in the net for the Eagles.

Vibber scored three off six shots while scooping up one ground ball. Carter netted two goals with an assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover. Sophomore Jacob Sargent was credit with an assist, a ground ball and a caused turnover. Boynton tallied two goals and a ground ball while Lyne added a goal and a ground ball. Giorgio had an assist to go along with three ground balls and four caused turnovers.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for a 4 p.m. non-conference game against Randolph College.
