BOSTON, Mass. — The Husson University softball team put together an impressive offensive showing on the road Saturday against Simmons University scoring 19 runs to come away with the 9-4 and 10-4 non-conference sweep.
Husson (10-4) got on the board with a pair of runs in the second and third inning of game one before opening up a 6-0 advantage with four runs in the fifth.
The Eagles added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning before Simmons (3-8) managed to score four in the bottom half of the inning to pull within 8-4 of Husson. However, the Eagles added a run in the seventh to come away with the 9-4 decision.
Junior
Bulla McCabe led the way firth two hits and three RBI's at the dish, while senior
Julia Gregoire added two hits and two RBIs. Junior
Tori Exel also finished with two hits for Husson finishing the game with 10 hits as a team and four stolen bases.
Sophomore
Danielle Masterson improved to 4-1 in the circle for the Eagles tossing 5.2 innings allowing just two hits and striking out six before freshman
Ana Lang threw the final 1.1 innings, scattering two hits and striking out one.
The second game of Saturday's doubleheader would be all Eagles as well as Husson wasted little time getting on the board, scoring a pair of runs in the first and second inning to take a 4-0 lead before Simmons got on the board with a run in the third.
Husson answered Simmons' run with a run of its own in the top of the fourth before adding two runs in the fifth and sixth innings and another in the seven. The Eagles finished the second game scoring in all but one inning.
Exel continued her impressive start to the second tallying a three-hit performance with three RBI's, while senior
Katie Raymond drove in two runs.

Emily Dunbar all recorded two hits apiece, while Lang picked up her third win on the year, allowing just one earned run over five innings while striking out four.
Sophomore

Sierra Yates combined for the final two innings, allowing just three hits combined.
Next up for Husson is a home doubleheader matchup against the University of New England on Mar. 23 beginning at 1 p.m.
