Women's track & field closed out spring break trip with an eight-place showing in the LCC Open

EUGENE, Ore. - The Husson University women's track & field team closed out their spring break by finishing eighth overall at the Lane Community College Open on Saturday afternoon.

Southern Oregon University won the meet with 100 points while Lane took second after scoring 99 points. Linfield College (74), Bushnell University (63) and Willamette College rounded out the top-five in the team standings. The Eagles finished the meet with 35 points.

In the 100-meter dash, sophomore Niamiah Perry ran a time of 14.14 before senior Quinn Young clocked in with a 31.87 in the 200-meter dash. Senior Miranda Dunton placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 1:03.33 and freshman Daniella Aceto clocked in with a personal-best mark of 1:11.25 to finish in 14th.

Freshman Abby Hunt and sophomore Maddie Jackson finished eighth and ninth in the 800-meter run with times of 3:21.06 and 3:34.36, respectively. Hunt recorded a personal-best time in the event before running a personal-best time of 6:30.26 in the 1500-meter run. 

Dunton tallied her second personal-best of the day after posting a mark of 19:38.00 in the 5000 meter run, earning a second-place finish. Junior Ava Dowling mustered a fourth-place time after clocking in at 20:03.44.

Sophomore Anelina Cotoni took home a ninth place-finish in 100 meter hurdles with a mark of 17.30 and Perry finished 13th with a 17.87. Sophomore Nina Gregory and Cotoni were the top finishers for the Eagles in the 400-meter hurdles after recording times of 1:19.50 and 1:20.07. Gregory recorded a personal-best time in the event before placing third in the high jump with a mark of 1.51 meters.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, sophomore Grace Bedore finished fifth with a personal-best time of 12:38.35.

Cotoni recorded a personal-best jump of 4.26 meters in the long jump while Young and Perry had jumps of 4.22 meters and 3.97 meters. Young and Gregory brought home fourth and fifth place-finishes in the triple jump with jumps of 9.30 meters and 8.53 meters.

Junior Aaralyn Scroggins, sophomore Katelynn Reynolds and sophomore Megan Fletcher all competed in the shot put for the Eagles finishing the event with throws of 8.94 meters, 8.62 meters and 8.49 meters.

Reynolds recorded a person-best distance of 28.95 meters in the hammer throw while Fletcher and Scroggins finished the event with throws of 34.80 meters and 33.65 meters.

Scroggins and Fletcher had of throws of 26.45 meters and 26.03 meters in the discus before throwing distances of 20.47 meters and 25.28 meters in the javelin. Fletcher recorded a personal-best distance in the javelin to cap off Husson women's track & field's spring break trip to Oregon.

Husson returns to action on Saturday, April 6th when they compete in the Springfield College Classic.
