BANGOR, Maine – The Maine Basketball Hall of Fame announced its 2024 class on Wednesday and former Husson University women's basketball player Kelly A. Dow Austin '00 was named to this year's class.
Dow was a three-sport athlete at Husson, playing two seasons of women's volleyball and four years of softball to go along with her storied career playing for head coach Kissy Walker '03G.
Dow tallied more than 1,200 points during her time with the green and gold, shooting better than 50% from the floor and 65% from the free throw line in 103 career games played. She entered the Husson Sports Hall of Fame in 2010 ranking amongst the top-10 in program history for points, field goals made, field goal percentage, rebounds, blocked shots and blocked shot average.
The Maine Athletic Conference Player of the Year winner in 2000, Dow was named to the MAC all-conference first team twice, in addition to being named to the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-State First Team and to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American Second Team after contributing 16.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game during the 1999-2000 season.
"Kelly Dow at 6' was a graceful post player," coach Walker said. "Everything she did was smooth. Kelly could flip a switch while playing and go from coasting through the game to dominating. She led us to a few MAC championships, she was very close to all her teammates and just flourished at the D3 level."
Dow earned a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in sport management from Husson in 2000 after leading the Eagles to a MAC championship and an NAIA tournament appearance in 1999.
Dow will join 11 other individuals, five "Legends of the Game" and the 1993 Calais High School girls basketball team in the class of 2024, which will be inducted on Aug. 11 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
