STANDISH, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team returned to the court on Saturday battling Saint Joseph's College of Maine to a 67-54 loss on the road.
Saint Joseph's (3-2) opened Saturday's in-state battle with a 15-8 first quarter advantage before playing Husson (0-5) close in the second quarter 12-11 to hold a 27-19 lead heading into the half.
The Eagles came out in the second half with one of their best quarters on the season, scoring 18 points, but the Monks scored 24 to increase their lead heading into the deciding quarter.
Husson outscored SJC 17-16 over the final 10 minutes, but a strong first and third quarter proved to be the difference as the Monks came away with the 67-54 win.
Freshman
Alyssa Harris finished with a team-high 14 points for Husson, while senior
Lauren Cook added 12 points on 4-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line.

Alana Seward tallied a career-high 10 points and three steals. Senior

Saige Evans pulled town a team-high eight rebounds each, while freshman
Lilly Roy added a career-high eight points.
Harris also finished with seven rebounds and three assists, matching senior Hannah Richard who also dished out three assists.
Husson finished the afternoon with a 5-2 block advantage, 21-11 edge on steals.
Next up for the Eagles is a North Atlantic Conference showdown with rival Maine Maritime Academy at home on Dec 4 at 5:30 p.m.
