PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Husson University volleyball team picked up a pair of victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on the road Saturday winning 3-2 in the North Atlantic Conference matchup and 3-1 in the doubleheader finale.
Presque Isle (9-15, 7-7 NAC) and Husson (8-15, 6-4 NAC) traded blows throughout the first game of Saturday's regular-season finale. The Owls came away with a 25-23 set-one win to take a 1-0 set advantage.
The Eagles evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-20 set-two win, but UMPI took a 2-1 edge following a 25-23 set-three decision.
Husson tied the match 2-2 with its own 25-23 decision and came away with the 3-2 win following a 16-14 set-five win.
Sophomore
Janna Preskorn finished with a game-high 22 kills — setting a new career-high on the day, while freshman
Mikayla Gray finished with a game-high 17 kills.
Preskorn and Gray also finished with a game-high four aces each, while Preskorn collected two blocks.
Senior
Alyvia McIntyre tallied a game-high 45 assists, finishing with a 45-assist, 18-dig double-double. Preskorn also posted a double-double tallying 19 digs.
Senior
Beatrice Tursi scooped up a career and game-high 29 digs.
Similar to it did in Saturday's opener, UMPI began game two by winning the opening set 25-21, but the Eagles rebounded winning the second set 25-20, third set 25-20 and took home the 3-1 decision with a 25-23 set-three win.
Freshman
Jonna Travis recorded a team-high six kills in the win, while senior
Alexa Beal and freshman
Kimberly Daniels each added five kiils.
Freshman Amanda Morse tallied three assists and a career and game-high 27 digs. Daniels collected three blocks, while McIntyre added her second double-double on the day with 21 assists and 13 digs.
Additionally, junior
Leah Peloquin tallied a career-high 14 digs.
The Eagles will now compete in the NAC semifinals with details being announced later this week.
