BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University field hockey team rolled to a 13-0 victory over the University of Maine at Farmington on Friday night at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex, as nine-different players found the scoring column.
Husson (7-7) started fast in Friday's contest, scoring six times in the opening 15 minutes, as junior Averi Baker, sophomore Faith Tillotson and junior Lauryn Brown each scored twice in the opening frame.
Baker had her goals assisted by junior Maddie Arsenault and sophomore Hope Bouchard, while Tillotson capitalized on assists from Baker and Bouchard and Brown recorded an unassisted tally, in addition to posting a goal off of a feed from sophomore Tessa Capozzoli to put the Eagles up 6-0 after one period.
Husson found two more goals in the second period, as Brown put the finishing touches on a hat-trick on a pass from junior Kyla Havey, while freshman Madison Willey posted her second goal of the season to send the Eagles into the halftime break up 8-0.
Senior Karlie Ramsdell and junior Maddie Perkins put Husson up double-digits in the third period, as Ramsdell sent a shot into the back of the cage on a pass from Arsenault, while Perkins recorded an unassisted goal.
The Eagles added three more goals in the final period, as senior Abbie Ross put home her first goal of the year on a pass from Arsenault, while junior Ruby Kitchin got Arsenault her fourth assist of the game on her goal and freshman Brianna Smith closed the scoring with an unassisted goal.
Husson outshot Farmington (0-13) 45-2 for the game, including 33-1 in shots on goal, while also holding a 14-0 edge in penalty corners.
Sophomore Maria Levesque earned the shutout in the cage and turned away the lone shot that the Beavers put on goal.
Husson is back in action on Sunday when it hosts Thomas College at 1 p.m.
