BANGOR, Maine — Husson University volleyball senior
Alyvia McIntyre made program history on Saturday becoming the first setter in school history to eclipse the 2,000-assist mark following the Eagles 3-0 North Atlantic Conference win over Lesley University.
Husson (6-11, 4-2 NAC) wasted little time getting off to a strong start in Saturday's home finale, winning the opening set 25-6 with a .632 hitting percentage and 13 kills for the set.
The Eagles would also win the second set 25-9 before Lesley (0-16, 0-9 NAC) battled Husson tough in the third and final frame 25-17.
Sophomore
Janna Preskorn paced the Eagles with a game-high 11 kills, while senior
Cam Schweitzer tallied seven kills.
Freshman Amanda Morse recorded a game-high five service aces, while senior Beatrice Turse and McIntyre each added four aces.
Sophomore
Alana Peruti finished with two blocks in the win, while McIntyre's 17 assists pushed her past the 2,000-career assist plateau — becoming the first playing in program history to reach 2,000 assists for a career.
McIntyre also finished with eight digs in the win, while freshman
Jonna Travis tallied four digs.
Husson will look to keep momentum going as it battles Thomas College on the road Friday at 6 p.m. in NAC action.
