BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team put together a complete team effort in its 65-48 North Atlantic Conference victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Tuesday evening.
Husson (9-9, 5-3 NAC) jumped out to an early advantage on Wednesday over UMPI (8-6, 4-3 NAC) leading 15-7 after the opening 10 minutes and 36-21 at the halftime break before playing the Owls close over the final 20 minutes to pick up the 65-48 decision.
13 Eagles got in the scoring column with graduate student
Bailey Donovan leading all scorers with a game-high 17 points and 17 rebounds. Donovan also tallied two blocks and three assists.
Junior
Sofia Torres-Reyes also finished in double digits with 10 points, adding four boards and two steals.
Fellow junior
Roxanne Sasse played well for the Eagles, connecting on 2-3 from 3-point range and tallying eight points.
Husson finished with a 46-25 advantage on the glass with junior
Sophia McVicar pulling down seven boards from the guard position to finish second on the team behind Donovan.
The Eagles limited themselves to just nine turnovers and show over 80 percent from the charity strip for the second-straight game.
Husson will travel to Waterville on Friday for a home and home against Thomas College with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
