BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University women's swimming & diving team celebrated senior day before their final home dual meet of the season against Saint Joseph's College of Maine and then kept the celebration going throughout in a 151-116 win over the Monks on Friday evening inside Webber Pool.
Prior to today's meet, one senior:
Kayla Payson was recognized for her accomplishments with the Husson University women's swimming & diving program.
The meet began with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, comprised of junior
Rachel Hand, junior
Erin Madden, graduate student
Hannah Soutter and freshman
Mia Winslow. They clocked in with a time of 2:05.84.
Payson (11:53.59) and Hand (1:02.53) each recorded victories in the 1000-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, respectfully.
Madden earned the gold in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.72.
Hand came away victorious for the second time during the meet in the 100-yard freestyle (57.58), while Madden picked up her second gold in the 200-yard backstroke (2:29.00).
Payson captured back-to-back wins in the 500-yard freestyle (5:45.57) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.09) before Husson had a 1-2-3 finish in the six-dive one-meter optionals.
Sophomore
Riley Mahoney (161.15) led the way for the Eagles in the six-dive one-meter optionals, sophomore Lily Butter (132.90) finished second and freshman
Julia Brown (105.45) took third.
Madden recorded her third victory of meet in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:32.50.
Payson, Winslow, Soutter and Hand ended the meet as members of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team with a mark of 4:50.35 to clinch the 13th consecutive dual meet victory over the Monks.
The Eagles will be back in the water next Saturday, January 20 on the road against Colby-Sawyer College.
