BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University field hockey team fell to No. 13 Bowdoin College 5-1 in non-conference action Saturday evening.
Bowdoin (6-2) took a 1-0 lead with its first goal midway through the first quarter and added a second goal just under two minutes later to take a 2-0 advantage.
Husson (3-3) battled the Polar Bears to a 0-0 draw in the second quarter to keep the deficit at 2-0 heading into halftime.
However, Bowdoin scored just over two minutes into the second half to extend its lead to 3-0.
The Eagles cut the Polar Bears deficit to 3-1 just over a minute after Bowdoin's third goal when senior
Teagan Blackie connected on a shot that found the back off the cage from fellow senior
Julia Murch.
Bowdoin added another goal in the third quarter to run its edge back to 4-1 and increased its lead to 5-1 with an insurance goal in the fourth quarter.
Husson will host Colby College on Sunday with the start time set for 4 p.m.
