BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team suffered a 5-2 defeat to Marian University from Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 1-1 while the Sabres improve to 1-1.
It was an even first half as both teams had excellent chances to score the breakthrough, but it took until the 45th minute for the opening goal. Taylor Perl slotted a perfect shot into the bottom left corner from an Elizabeth Vitel pass to give the visitors a lead at the break.
The second half combined for six goals as the Eagles attempted a comeback, but each time the Sabres were able to respond. Junior Kate Harriman and sophomore Devon St. Louis each tallied goals in the final 45 minutes while senior Edie Shea recorded an assist in the second half.
Sophomore Goalkeeper Madison Weigler made four saves in goal for the Eagles.
The Eagles outshot their visitors, 16-13, but the visitors recorded more shots on goal at 9-7. Husson recorded 53% of the possession in the loss.
The women's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday for a non-conference showdown with Colby College with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
