CASTINE, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer began North Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday evening as they picked up a 1-0 victory over Maine Maritime Academy at Ritchie Field.
The Eagles (5-3, 1-0 NAC) controlled the majority of the contest versus the Mariners (7-2-1, 1-1 NAC) including 15 shots on goal, but the lone breakthrough came in the 31st minute. Charlotte Messer took a touch before firing a half-volley into the bottom right corner for her second goal of the season.
Madision Weigler and the Eagles' defense faced four total shots with two of them being saves for the sophomore goalkeeper.
The women's soccer team begins a five-game homestand on Saturday when the Vermont State University at Lyndon come to Boucher Field with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m.
