BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University field hockey team earned a hard-fought victory over the Plymouth State Panthers with a 2-1 decision on Sunday afternoon.
The first quarter saw Plymouth State (4-1) control the early momentum over Husson (3-2, 1-0 NAC), by outshooting the Eagles 5-0. However, that momentum was short lived as Husson, took control of the game in the second quarter when senior
Teagan Blackie scored her sixth goal of the season 30 seconds into the quarter off an assist from freshman
Tessa Capozzoli.
Sophomore
Maddie Perkins doubled the Eagles lead just as the horn sounded before halftime, giving the Eagles a 2-0 advantage at the half and scoring the eventual game-winning goal.
The second half was filled with action, as Plymouth State scored five minutes into the half to cut the Eagles lead down to one. Husson kept is second quarter pressue on the Panthers forceing the Plymouth State to make seven saves in the half, while Husson goalie
Kimmie Goddard stood tall in the cage making six saves in the second half to help secure the Eagles to victory.
The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Sept. 30th when they host No. 16 Bowdoin College at 6 p.m.
