FARMINGTON, Maine - The Husson University field hockey team toppled the University of Maine at Farmington 9-0 on Saturday afternoon as senior goalie
Kimmie Goddard set the all-time program record for shutouts, recording the 11.2 shutout of her career.
Husson (2-2, 1-0 NAC) dominated the Beavers (0-6, 0-1 NAC) from start to finish in its North Atlantic Conference season opener, as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead inside the first eight minutes on goals from freshman
Faith Tillotson, senior
Teagan Blackie and sophomore
Maddie Arsenault.
Husson rounded out the first half with another three goals, as Blackie added another to her tally and sophomore
Maddie Perkins scored her first of the afternoon, while senior
Phoebe Carlock scored just before the halftime break.
In the second half, the Eagles allowed no shots, while a goal by senior
Julia Murch, and both Perkins and Tillotson scoring their second goals of the day, rounded out a 9-0 Eagles effort.
Goddard moved past Husson Sports Hall of Fame member Kelly Bocchino's '09 career mark of 11.1 after earning the combined shutout with freshman
Maria Levesque in the victory over the Beavers.
Husson returns to action Sunday when it hosts Plymouth State University at 1 p.m.
