PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team made their farthest trip north of the season as they didn't disappoint coming home with a 6-2 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls on a rainy night at Presque Isle Middle School.
The Eagles (3-3-0) took the advantage in this non-conference fixture just 66 seconds into the game with junior Natalie Aviolla scoring her first of three goals in the game. Sophomore defender Caley Nault doubled the lead in just over a minute later with her first collegiate goal.
The Eagles would hold the 2-0 lead over the Owls (0-5-0) until the stroke of halftime when another sophomore defender scoring her first collegiate goal. Junior Sophia Mullins connected with Kendra Donahue to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the break.
The second half began with Aviolla scoring her second and third goals of the game as the Eagles led, 5-1, through 60 minutes. Junior Kate Harriman added herself on the scoresheet in the 65th minute as the Eagles won the contest, 6-2. Sophomore Addi Laslie recorded two second half assists while junior Megan Buddemeyer also recorded an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Madison Weigler made one save in the victory for the Eagles.
The women's soccer team return home for their first NAC fixture of the season on Saturday when the Beavers of UMaine-Farmington visit Boucher Field. The homecoming contest kickoffs at 1:00 p.m.
