ALFRED STATION, N.Y. — The Husson University football team powered its way past Alfred State College 31-13 on the road Saturday in non-conference action.
Husson (2-1) capitalized on its opening drive, going 77 yards on 12 plays, capped off by junior
Elijah Garnett's first of two touchdown runs to give the Eagles an early 7-0 advantage.

Ja'Quan Myles on a 64-yard touchdown to give Husson a 13-6 advantage.
The Eagles tacked on another score in the second quarter on Garnett's second touchdown to push its advantage to 19-6.
After both teams traded possessions to open the second half, Alfred State cut into the Eagles lead with a touchdown run making the game 19-13. However, Visser bulldozed his way in from five yards out to open the fourth quarter with a touchdown, capping off a 12-play, 89-yard drive to put Husson up 25-13 with 8:36 remaining.
The Eagles' defense stood tall in the final minutes of Saturday's fourth quarter, forcing two turnovers on downs and added a late score with time running out to seal the 31-13 victory.
Visser finished the afternoon 15-23 through the air with 228 yards and one touchdown, while Garnett made it three-straight 100-yard rushing performances with 126 yards on 24 carries and two scores.
Myles finished with a career-high 145 yards on six catches and one score, while senior
Tucker Buzzell was a force for the Eagles on defense coming up with defensive stop after defensive stop, finishing the day with three sacks — becoming the first Eagle in the last seven years to record three sacks in a game. Buzzell also finished with 13 stops on the day, eight solo and four tackles for loss while senior
Alex Brown recorded 10 solo tackles, finishing with 11 tackles for the game.
The Eagles limited Alfred State to 154 yards through the air and only 126 yards on the ground for a total of 280 yards on the day. Additionally, Husson held Alfred State to 0-4 on fourth down and 6-13 on third down conversions.
Husson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Anna Maria College at 3:30 p.m. for homecoming.
