BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University baseball team has earned the right to play another day as they picked up a 5-4 victory over Thomas College in a North Atlantic Conference elimination game at the Harold Alfond Diamond on Monday afternoon.
The Eagles found themselves on the scoreboard first in the opening frame as freshman David York walked with the bases-loaded. The Eagles' offense continued in the third inning as junior Jackson Curtis singled to score sophomore Tanner Evans and make it 2-0 Husson.
The Terriers would score four out of the next five runs to take a 4-3 lead after seven complete innings.
In the eighth, freshman Hunter Curtis brought the Eagles back into the contest with a solo shot followed by a RBI-double from fellow Keegan Cyr as the Eagles regained the lead, 5-4.
Junior Ryan Robb took care of the rest as he earned his fourth win of the season pitching the final 2.1 innings with three strikeouts as the Eagles advance to tomorrow.
Senior Alex Smith started the contest for the Eagles on the mound as he went six-plus innings of work and allowed four runs on five hits.
The baseball team will rematch with SUNY Cobleskill and will have to win two straight games tomorrow in order to become 2023 NAC champions. The first game takes place at noon and the second game if needed will be at 3:30 p.m.
