BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University baseball team has forced a winner-take-all North Atlantic Conference championship game after a 16-6 victory over SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Diamond.
The Eagles (23-17) batted around in the opening frame as they scored seven runs on seven hits. Sophomore Tanner Evans, junior Jackson Curtis, as well as freshmen Hunter Curtis, David York, Colin Marshall, and Keegan Cyr each drove in a run.
The Eagles added an eighth run in the second inning, before The Fighting Tigers (22-14) scored five of the next six runs to make it a 9-5 game after six innings.
In the top of the seventh, the Eagles put the game away with six runs and another run in the eighth as the Eagles won by ten.
Senior Chris Naylor went three-plus innings as he allowed two runs on two hits. Freshmen Sully Beers, Ben Phillips, Tanner Audyatis as well as junior Zain Fitzsimmons and senior Alex Smith each saw action from the bullpen.
The Eagles and The Fighting Tigers will play one final nine-inning game to determine the 2023 conference champion. First pitch is set for roughly 3:35 p.m.
