UTICA, N.Y. – The Husson University softball team began their 2023 North Atlantic Conference tournament with a 9-0 five-inning victory over Cazenovia College on Sunday afternoon. 

The Eagles' offense didn't waste any time as they scored nine runs on five hits in the first inning. The scoring was highlighted by two-run RBI hits from sophomore Bulla McCabe and senior Jill Bisson. Sophomore Tori Exel and senior Olivia McCarty also drove in runs in the inning. 

That was all the offense needed as senior McKenna Smith struck out 11-of-16 batters faced en route to the no-hitter. 

The Eagles return to the field tomorrow in Utica when they face-off with Thomas College at 1:00 p.m. with a place in the NAC championship series on the line.
