BANGOR, Maine — The Husson University baseball team earned the right to host the 2023 North Atlantic Conference Baseball Championships Series this coming Sunday-Tuesday.
The Eagles finished the regular season 20-16 overall with a 14-2 mark in conference play and will enter the four-team championship series as the No. 2 overall seed after reseeding.
Excited for the boys to host the NAC tournament, it was certainly one of our goals to begin the season," said head baseball coach Chris Morris. "It's going to be another great tournament with three other really good teams that are very well coached, it should be very exciting baseball around the Winkin Complex all weekend."
SUNY Cobleskill edged out the Eagles for the No.1 seed followed by Thomas College at No. 3 and SUNY Canton at No. 4. Reseeding for the tournament was decided bases on a composite of each team's overall winning percentage plus its strength of schedule.
Husson will battle in-state rival Thomas in its opening game of the series on Sunday at 3 p.m. while Cobleskill and Canton will play the opening game at noon. The loser of game one and game two will play off at 6 p.m. on Sunday in a double-elimination game.
The Eagles who won last year's NAC title on the road in Cobleskill, N.Y. are looking to make it four-straight NAC titles having won championships in 2022, 2021 and 2019 as the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID.
