FARMINGTON, Maine – The Husson University baseball team made their final road trip of the regular season on Saturday afternoon as they collected two road victories over the Beavers of UMaine-Farmington in North Atlantic Conference action. The Eagles opened the season series with a 8-2 victory in game one followed by an 8-1 victory in the nine-inning game two. The Eagles find themselves with a 17-16 overall record and 12-2 in the NAC while the Beavers fall to 7-29 and 4-10 in conference.
Game One: Husson 8, UMaine-Farmington 2
It took a six innings for anybody to find a run as their was a combined four hits in the first five innings of action. With the bases loaded, junior
Akira Warren doubled to bring home two runs followed by a sacrifice fly from freshman
David York. Pinch hitting sophomore
Ty Knowlton concluded the scoring in the inning with a single to score Warren and give the pitching staff a 4-0 lead.
That was all the run support that sophomore
Matt Wallingford needed as he went five qualtity innings and allowed a run on two hits. Junior
Ryan Robb shut the door down in the final two innings.
In the seventh, the offense opened the game up with four more runs with RBI from Warren, freshman
Hunter Curtis (x2), and York.
Game Two: Husson 8. UMaine-Farmington 1
The Eagles offense scored eight runs for the second consecutive game but it was
Connor Abood stealing the show on the mound. The right-handed sophomore pitched a 107-pitch complete game as he allowed six hits and a solo run.
The Eagles scored a single run in the first innings of the contest as graduate student
Ethan Stoddard opened the scoring just four batters into the contest when he delivered a single to center field to score fellow graduate student
Kobe Rogerson.
After not scoring in the fourth, the Eagles added four more runs in the fifth inning. RBI-walk from Warren followed by a RBI-single by H. Curtis was capped off by a Knowlton single to left center field to score two runs.
A pass ball in the ninth inning capped off the scoring as Warren was able to score on the play.
The Eagles and Beavers will conclude their four-game season series tomorrow as the NAC doubleheader has been moved to the Winkin Sports Complex with first pitch set for noon.
