DAVENPORT, Fla. — Freshman
Keegan Cyr drove in the deciding run in Husson University baseball's 4-3 non-conference win over Cazenovia College Wednesday evening.
Husson (4-3) and Cazenovia (4-4) remained scoreless until the sixth inning on Thursday before the Eagles took a 1-0 advantage following sophomore Tanner Evan's RBI double that scored graduate student
Kobe Rogerson.
Rogerson got in on the RBI action in the seventh inning scoring junior
Akira Warren on an RBI double, but the Wildcats plated three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
However, Cazenovia's lead was short lived because sophomore
Ty Knowlton homered in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game 3-3.
The Eagles loaded the bases in the top half of the ninth, but were unable to push a run across before holding the Wildcats scoreless to force extra innings.
Junior
Jordan MacDonald earned a one-out walk in the top of the 10th inning before being pinch run for by junior
Austin Snow. Freshman
Hunter Curtis laid down a sacrifice bunt to more Snow to second and Cyr came up clutch for the clubbing a two-out single that scored Snow to give Husson a 4-3 lead.
That would be all junior
Ryan Robb would need as he stuck out one and forced an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play to pick up the win.
Robb dazzled in relief for the inning pitching 2.2 innings allowing just two hits and striking out four batters.
Sophomore
Connor Abood got the start for the Eagles pitching six solid innings allowing six hits, three runs and striking out one, while freshman
Tanner Audyatis tossed 1.1 innings of two hit baseball with two punch outs.
Rogerson continued his stellar spring trip going 4-6 at the dish with one run and one RBI, while Curtis collected two hits.
Husson closes out its Florida trip on Thursday against Immaculata University at 2:30 p.m.
