BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's basketball team won their fifth straight game as they swept the North Atlantic Conference weekend set with the Hornets of Northern Vermont-Lyndon thanks to a 66-37 victory at Newman Gym on Saturday afternoon.

It was the Eagles (17-6, 11-1 NAC) who jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead to begin the contest as graduate student Vanessa Duarte scored a quick five points. The Hornets (9-11, 5-5 NAC) were able to close the quarter on a 7-0 run as the Eagles led, 18-12, after ten minutes of action.

The Eagles responded in the second quarter using a 6-0 run followed by a 9-0 run as they took a 33-16 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw much of the same as the Eagles continued to see the lead grow as they outscored the Hornets, 33-21, en route to the victory.

Sophomore Hannah Richards led the way in the contest with a game-high 13 points while senior Bailey Donovan pulled down 14 rebounds.

The women's basketball team will close out the regular season on next Saturday when they look to avenge their only NAC loss of the season when the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy come to town. Tip-off at Newman Gym is set for 1:00 p.m.
