BANGOR, Maine – The seniors combined for 15 points in overtime as the Husson University men's basketball team recorded a senior day 86-75 overtime victory over the Mariners of Maine Maritime Academy at Newman Gym on Saturday night.

Prior to the contest, the program honored two upcoming graduates in J Thomas and Justice Kendall for their dedication and contributions to Husson men's basketball.

The Mariners (10-15, 4-10 NAC) took control of the contest early scoring the first ten points of the contest before the Eagles (13-12, 11-3 NAC) started to battle back and slowly cut the Mariners' lead down. Maine Maritime would take a 37-34 lead into the halftime break.

It only took four minutes into the second half for the Eagles to capture the lead as with the game tied at 41; Kendall was apart of the next ten points by scoring seven and assisting on a three-pointer. With 13 minutes left in the second half; the Eagles led 52-41 as it was the Mariners turn to chip away at the lead. The Mariners were able to even up the score at 68 as overtime was needed.

In overtime, it was all Husson. The Eagles outscored the Mariners, 18-7, as Thomas recorded back-to-back threes while Kendall added six points.

Kendall scored a game-high 26 points while junior Scott Lewis put up 19 points and nine rebounds. Junior Jeremy Moronta chipped in 18 points off the bench while Thomas capped the night off with 14 points. Senior Derek Collin led the Eagles in rebounds with 11.

The men's basketball regular season has come to a close as they await Tuesday's announcement from the North Atlantic Conference for their fate in the conference tournament that is slated to begin on Friday.
