LYNDONVILLE, VT. – The Husson University women's basketball team opened their North Atlantic Conference slate in style on Friday night as they defeated the Hornets of Vermont State University Lyndon by the final score of 90-36 at Standard Gymnasium.
The Hornets (4-3, 0-1 NAC) put up a fight in the first ten minutes, before the Eagles (3-3, 1-0 NAC) put the hammer down as they didn't allow the Hornets to score more than ten points in any other quarter.
16 different players recorded a stat for the Eagles in the victory as they outscored the Hornets, 27-8, in the second quarter then, 40-13, in the second half.
The Eagles shot just under 46% (36-79) from the field as the Eagles attempted 39 more shots than the home team. The Eagles made 12 shots from distance while the Hornets made a total of 11 shots from the field. The Eagles rebounded the ball 50 times to the Hornets' 33 while the Eagles forced 34 turnovers.
Junior Sophia McVicar tied her career-high with 17 points in just 21 minutes of play while graduate student Bailey Donovan picked up 12 defensive rebounds. Junior Hannah Richards was the playmaker for the Eagles with six assists.
The two teams will close out their season-series tomorrow when they face-off for a 3:00 p.m. NAC showdown in the Green Mountain State.
