LYNDONVILLE, VT. – The Husson University women's basketball team completed their road trip in the Green Mountain State on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the Hornets of Vermont State University Lyndon by the final score of 74-46, at Standard Gymnasium in North Atlantic Conference action.
Just like their matchup yesterday; the Eagles (4-3, 2-0 NAC) and Hornets (4-4, 0-2 NAC) battled in the first quarter as the Eagles led by a single point after the first ten minutes of play. The Eagles began to blow away their opponent in the second quarter as they led by six at the break.
In the second half, it was all Husson as they doubled up their host, 42-21, en route to the 28 point victory.
17 different players saw minutes for the Eagles as graduate student Bailey Donovan led the Eagles with 15 points and nine rebounds. Junior Lauren Cook scored 11 points while sophomore Laela Martinez recorded a career-high ten points in just 12 minutes of action.
In the contest, the Eagles pulled down 53 rebounds to the Hornets' 37 while forcing their opponent to turn the ball over 27 times.
The women's basketball team has one final game before the holiday break when the defending NAC champions, Maine Maritime Academy, visit Newman Gym on Thursday with the contest set for 7:30 p.m.
