BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women's basketball team dropped a 58-50 non-conference matchup with the Bobcats of Bates College at Newman Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
Husson University (2-3) opened the contest on a 6-2 run, before Bates (6-0) rallied a quarter ending 11-5 run as they ended the first ten minutes up by two.
In the second quarter, the Eagles and Bobcats traded baskets until late second quarter when Bates ended the half on a 7-0 run as they held on to a 32-23 halftime lead.
The NESCAC school continued to stretch out their lead in the second half as they led by as much as 17, but the Eagles outscored Bates, 15-9, in the fourth as the Bobcats take the eight-point non-conference win.
Graduate student Bailey Donovan led the Eagles with 22 rebounds and 17 points while junior Sophia McVicar had nine points.
North Atlantic Conference play for the women's basketball team begins on Friday when they travel to Vermont to take on Vermont State University Lyndon for a two-game set with Friday's game set for 7:30 p.m.
