GORHAM, Maine — The Husson University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 66-57 decision on the road against the University of Southern Maine.
Husson (1-2) opened Wednesday in-state clash with a 28-first quarter performance and led 28-16 at the end of the quarter, led by junior
Lauren Cook's eight points.
Southern Maine (1-1) rebounded in the second half, winning the quarter 22-19 and pulling within 47-38 at the half.
The second half would belong to the Huskies as they outscored the Eagles 28-10 over the final 28 minutes to come away with the 66-57 decision.
Cook finished with a team-high 16 points, adding five rebounds while graduate student
Bailey Donovan tallied a 14-point, 10-rebound double double.
Additionally, junior
Jordyn Lengle tallied four points and seven rebounds, while junior
Sofia Torres-Reyes added seven points and senior
Trinity Montigny dished out a team-high five assists.
Next up for the Eagles is a home matchup against Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday with tipoff set for 3 p.m.
