Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Joseph Swanson

Volleyball splits tri-match against Lesley, UNE

LEXINGTON, Mass. — The Husson University volleyball team split its tri-match against Lesley University and the University of New England on the road Saturday, beating Lesley 3-0 in a North Atlantic Conference matchup before falling to UNE 3-0 in the finale. 
 
Husson (4-11, 4-1 NAC) wasted little time getting a set victory on the board against Lesley (0-13, 0-6 NAC) winning 25-7 in the first set.
 
Lesley gave the Eagles a run in the second set, but Husson came away with the 25-17 decision and sealed the straight-set win with a 25-8 set-three victory. 
 
Husson finished the match hitting an impressive .444 as a team led by junior Alexa Beal's game-high eight kills. Graduate student Cheyenne Young and freshman Janna Preskorn each finished with seven kills apiece, while freshman Molly Gamache recorded a career-high six service aces. 
 
Junior Alyvia McIntyre tallied a game-high 18 assists and sophomore Leah Peloquin recorded a team-high nine digs. 
 
In the Eagles final match of the afternoon, UNE (7-5) picked up a straight-set win over Husson winning the first set 25-19, followed by 25-8 and 25-15. 
 
Preskorn led Husson with even kills, while McIntyre and Young each finished with nine assists. 
 
Graduate student Nicole Hobbs scooped up a team-high five digs in the loss. 
 
Next up for the Eagles is a Thursday night showdown with reigning NAC champion Maine Maritime Academy at home at 7 p.m.
