SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Husson University field hockey team made the trip down to Stagg Field on the campus of Springfield College where they picked up a 7-0 neutral-site North Atlantic Conference victory over SUNY Morrisville on a rainy Saturday evening.
The Eagles (4-5, 2-0 NAC) fired ten shots on goal as the Mustangs (1-9, 0-3) was able to keep the game scoreless after 15 minutes. Three minutes into the second quarter and the Eagles found the breakthrough as freshman Tessa Capozzoli connected on a feed from sophomore Maddie Perkins. The Eagles found two more goals in quarter as freshman Faith Tillotson put home a penalty stroke followed by Capozzoli's second of the game.
The offense continued to roll in the third with three different goalscorers. Senior Teagan Blackie, and freshman Maddie Arsenault scored from the run of play while senior Julia Murch tucked home a penalty stroke.
The Eagles capped off the scoring midway through the fourth as Arsenault connected with junior Allison Drew.
Freshman goalkeeper Maria Levesque made her first collegiate start as she recorded a shutout.
The field hockey team returns to the field on next Saturday when they face off with the Terriers of Thomas College for a conference matchup at 1:00 p.m.
