STANDISH, Maine – The Husson University volleyball team fell in four sets to Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday evening on the road in non-conference action.
Husson (6-14) put themselves in prime position to steal the first set over the Monks (10-12), as they possessed a 19-17 edge, however, Saint Joe's took eight of the next 11 points to take a 1-0 set edge.
The Eagles dropped the second set of the match 25-19, but were able to bounce back and keep the match going in the third set as they came back from 25-24 down to take the next three points and win 27-25.
The Monks were quick to put the Husson comeback bid to rest in the fourth set as they jumped out to a 12-3 lead and went on to win the set and the match with a 25-17 set four victory.
Freshman Janna Preskorn and graduate student Cheyenne Young both ended the night with double-figure kills as they tallied 15 and 12 respectively.
Junior Alyvia McIntyre dished out 26 of the 30 assists that the Eagles recorded, in addition to scooping up 14 digs on defense. Young and junior Beatrice Tursi also finished with double-digit digs as they tallied 16 and 17 respectively.
Husson will be back at home this weekend for their North Atlantic Conference regular season finale as it will take on Lesley University. First-serve inside Newman Gymnasium is set for 12 p.m. on Sunday.
