WATERVILLE, Maine – The Husson University women's soccer team closed our their regular season campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 6-0 North Atlantic Conference victory over Thomas College at Smith Field.
Like their first meeting, it didn't take long for the Eagles (11-5-1) to find the opening goal versus the Terriers (5-11, 3-5 NAC). In the 13th minute, a corner kick delivered to the back post where graduate student Charlotte Messer was there for her seventh goal of the season. The score would stay 1-0 through halftime after both sides had a goal disallowed due to offsides.
In the second half, the rain picked up and so didn't the scoring for the Eagles. Nothing doing in the first ten minutes of the second half before they rallied four goals in a twenty minute span. Sophomore Addi Laslie, junior Kate Harriman, and junior Natalie Aviolla each scored while Messer also found her second of the game.
In the 83rd minute, Harriman recorded her second goal of the game to wrap the scoring and earn the three points for the Eagles.
Sophomore Madison Weigler went untested in goal as the Eagles' backline didn't allow a single shot from the Terriers.
The women's soccer team will await the remaining NAC fixtures to play out tonight and tomorrow before finding out their seeding for the upcoming conference tournament.
